The Life Center of Hernando: Early Childhood Education Center
Early Childhood Education is at the heart of The Life Center program. The Learning Center has been especially designed with the young children of single moms in mind. It is a place for mothers and their children to grow as they bond in a safe, child-friendly environment.
The Learning Center offers an outstanding early education experience for children from birth to kindergarten. Toddlers and preschoolers experience a creative curriculum featuring both block scheduling and free play. The children have endless opportunities for hands on learning. There is opportunity for each child to discover the numerous, creative options that are open to him.
The Parents as Educators learn the importance of teaching language skills and providing encouragement. They model moral and health values. Parents receive training throughout the year including sensitivity to and appreciation for cultural differences. Each child receives loving care and security which fosters a sense of well being. This in turn allows the child to venture further in his explorations.
The children’s academic needs are met with a series of classes offered in the areas of science, math, music, art, drama, blocks and puzzles, Spanish, and language arts. Materials are arranged in a colorful, attractive, easy to reach manner with the emphasis on creativity, learning real life skills and preparing for higher education- Kindergarten and beyond.
Outdoor periods are scheduled each day in a fenced play area. The children are able to create an endless variety of their own games of pretend in the sandbox, on the swing set, in the woodworking area and during the many opportunities for water play. A favorite activity is bike riding on the carport where a fantasy village awaits.
