The Life Center Board began as a very hands-on board. Board members laid tile, held fund raisers, scrubbed toilets, attended Chamber of Commerce events and did every other job that needed doing. Everyone wore several hats and we simply did what we had to do to create TLC. Gradually more volunteers joined our efforts with offers of help. In April 2014 we had enough team members to form two groups: Board and Team. Board members continued to do any job not covered by a volunteer. Board members painted, picked up trash, bought toilet paper and held residents’ hands. The Board is still very involved in practical matters, but gradually the board is able to focus more and more on administrative duties. The board is responsible for TLC’s finances, policy and procedures, and community relationships.
